At Nevada Defense Group, we value the power of teamwork and collaboration. As our Associate Attorney, you will work one-on-one with clients, paralegals, and opposing attorneys. The ability to self-manage a wide variety of challenging cases is an essential part of your position. You will need to be comfortable in the courtroom, negotiating with opposing counsel, and speaking directly with our clients. We are looking for someone who takes pride in anything they sign their name to, and can adhere to the law firm’s high work product standards. As our Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for:

- Working directly with the paralegals assigned to your cases. A successful Associate manages his/her cases with the help of the paralegal. You will be expected to meet often with the paralegal to keep tasks on track and ensure the case is moving forward.

- Our ideal candidate will have family law practice experience. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, but are willing to train the right candidate.

- Drafting: Orders; correspondence to opposing counsel and parties; discovery requests and responses; Motions; Oppositions; Pre-trial Memorandums; Initial Pleadings; Marital Settlement Agreements; etc

- Attending court hearings on all family law related motions. Our ideal candidate will have independently conducted hearings on the following issues: child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, attorney’s fees, and property control/division/sale issues. You will also be responsible for attending trials as either a first-chair or second-chair, depending on experience.

- Conducting in-office Voluntary Settlement Conferences, typically with all parties and counsel present.

- Conducting legal research.

- Managing family law cases from start to finish – managing cases from Complaint/Petition through Final Decree/Judgment.

- Speaking directly with clients, either in-person, on the phone, or through our cloud-based client portal.

Minimum Requirements

- Juris Doctorate from accredited law school.

- Admitted to practice law in the State of Nevada.

- Current on all continuing education requirements.

- A strong interest in family law.
